Mukissa notkeasti kupliessaan tämä kultaisena kuultava juoma hätyyttelee jo shamppanjamaista estetiikan verhoa. Se on harhaa. Heti ensisiemauksenna nenääni tulvahtaa navetan haju, kuin pillastunut nautakarja kävisi mylvien kimppuuni. Olo on kuin työn touhussa hyörivällä lantakuoriaisella. Koska kyseessä on Chardonnay, jää epäselväksi, oliko viini pilaantunutta vai vain pahaa.

Muistelen taannoin haukkuneeni Balletia, mutta nyt se virtaa hanakasti alas kurkustani. Maku on voimakkaan mesimarjamainen, limonadimainen, kuin nestemäistä serpentiiniä. Muut kuohuviinit latistuvat muovimukissa, mutta Ballet tuntuu olevan siinä edukseen. Pienten joutsenten tanssin sijaan mieleni täyttää samban kuuma rytmikkyys, onhan läsnä suomalaisen kalenterivuoden pakanallinen karnevaali, jossa yhteen painautunut ihmismassa valosta huumaantuneina kohottaa palvoen valkoiset lakkinsa kohti Havis Amandan ikiaikaista hahmoa. Kohottakaamme Ballet-malja nuoruudelle ja keväälle!
